Proudly South African

Well being part owner of this blog it allows me to make a noise about the great country that is South Africa. It’s a saying that has become common place in this country “Proudly South African” almost a brand that has been applied and something that has been instilled in this country’s people. I mean if you are a tourist there are many places that you could look at for accommodation in Cape Town, or you could be looking for Durban accommodation. The fact remains that if you are a tourist in this country you need to come to terms with “Proudly South African”.

In a country with a million problems, we need to look at the billion positives. A rich heritage of turmoil and struggle has only made this country all the more great. It could have gone the way of so many other African countries and plunged itself into civil war, death and ruin, but it’s people and more specifically its Heroes like Nelson Mandela and De Klerk that made sure that not only the country was driven in the right direction, but was put in the history books for the right reason. South African’s are proud of the fact that their greatest leader Nelson Mandela is a world icon. He is possibly the most famous person living today on the planet and there are very few people in the world that do not know who Nelson Mandela is. The Rainbow nation, a country with so much diverse culture is appropriately called the Rainbow nation; it is represented in the countries national flag, possibly the best flag in the world and certainly the most eye catching.

So many people from all different walks of life and cultures under the one roof of South Africa has made a unique and beautiful culture that is this country. Rugby, Soccer, Cricket and just sport in general, you will be amazed how crazy South African’s are about Sport. A patriotism like no other and a passion to make this country better. The people of this country truly are proudly South African.
